The Galaxy S Light Luxury was just announced in China packing very modest specs, the device is pretty much a "lite" variant of the Galaxy S8. The 5.8' screen from the S8 makes a return keeping the same dimensions as its bigger brother. The Light S features the same Super AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,220 px resolution (18.5:9). The phone has a single camera on the back - 16 MP sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. It can record 4K video at 30 fps, but OIS is absent (surprisingly). The selfie camera has an 8 MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. The Snapdragon 660 chipset inside the Galaxy S Light Luxury should offer similar CPU performance to the Galaxy S8's 835. It does have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Given the Galaxy S Light Luxury's size, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s a 3,000 mAh battery – the same capacity as the Galaxy S8. There’s support for fast wireless and wired charging, the latter of which goes over the USB-C port....
Customized android Operating System, OxygenOS, which was developed by Chinese manufacturer Oneplus for their smartphones only.
The operating system was designed exclusively for their market overseas while another version was designed for the china market called HydrogenOS has been found to leak user details without making it anonymous.
The fault was first detected and posted on twitter by a security researcher called, Tux, back in July, 2016 and was not considered seriously until it was reported on October 10, 2017 by security researcher, Christopher Moore. He discovered that while the one plus device was collecting data and sending regular telemetry to its server, it failed to anonymize the user info therefore collecting information from the user’s device such as
IMEI code,
IMSI code,
Phone serial number,
MAC addresses,
Phone number of the device,
Battery status,
apps opened,
time an app was launched or closed
and so much more.
Though there is a way to stop the data tracking done by the device. It was enabled by a polish developer.
It can be removed via ADB in the following step;
Go to developer options in settings
Enable USB debugging
Then connect phone via USB to a PC
Then run terminal commands using the Android Debug Bridge(ADB)
adb start-server
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0
net.oneplus.odm
According to Jakub Czekanski, the above command should disable the data trafficking.
