The Galaxy S Light Luxury was just announced in China packing very modest specs, the device is pretty much a "lite" variant of the Galaxy S8. The 5.8' screen from the S8 makes a return keeping the same dimensions as its bigger brother. The Light S features the same Super AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,220 px resolution (18.5:9). The phone has a single camera on the back - 16 MP sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. It can record 4K video at 30 fps, but OIS is absent (surprisingly). The selfie camera has an 8 MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. The Snapdragon 660 chipset inside the Galaxy S Light Luxury should offer similar CPU performance to the Galaxy S8's 835. It does have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Given the Galaxy S Light Luxury's size, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s a 3,000 mAh battery – the same capacity as the Galaxy S8. There’s support for fast wireless and wired charging, the latter of which goes over the USB-C port....
Asus has officially launched the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Pro
in the United States of America. This release comes just after the OEM
announced their Zenfone 4 max smartphone. The Zenfone 4 aims to be a very
capable midrange smartphone, touting ZenUI 4.0, a Snapdragon 630 SoC and 4GB of
RAM.
DISPLAY
This device is equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD (1080x1920)
display. The display is a Super IPS+ panel capable of brightness levels of up
to 600nits. The side bezels are narrow but the top and bottom bezels scream
2016, so does the physical home key and capacitive task switcher and back keys.
The front and back of the Zenfone 4 is encased in 2.5D glass topped off with
Corning Gorilla Glass for added protection.
CAMERA
The Zenfone 4 packs dual rear cameras; a 12MP camera with a
wide f/1.8 aperture. This is a Sony IMX362 sensor with a large 1.4µm
pixel size. There is optical image stabilization present as well. The second rear
camera is an 8MP unit which just increases the field of view (FOV) by 120°. There
is 4K video recording onboard as well as a professional mode for the
photographers out there. The selfie unit of this device is an 8MP, f/2.0 unit
with an 84° FOV. The ASUS SelfieMaster is preloaded and allows users apply
beautification effects to their, well, selfies.
HARDWARE
The Snapdragon 630 SoC is at the heart of this device. Built on
the 14nm process, it features 8 Cortex A53 cores with clock speeds up to
2.2GHz. There is 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of internal storage. The home
button houses a fingerprint scanner with unlock speeds less than 0.3s. A
3,300mAh battery keeps the phone on, with 30 hours of 3G talk time. There is fast charge present, 50% of
battery power in 36 minutes.
FEATURES
The dual pixel technology utilised in the Zenfone 4’s camera
has 24 million focus detection sensors. ASUS claims this technology “provides
ultrafast 0.03 seconds phase-detection and subject tracking auto focus” in
order to allow the pictures appear clear and sharp. The professional mode on
the Zenfone 4 features a portrait mode and RAW support. The AudioWizard app
onboard this device lets you tweak the audio output to suit your needs, and the
DTS headphone:X delivers high quality 7.1-channel virtual surround sound via
headphones.

The ASUS Zenfone 4 packs a nifty package for its $399 price
tag. The bezels on this device might be a deal breaker for some people given the
18:9 aspect ratio and ‘Infinity Display’ have caused a stir in the smartphone
market in 2017. ASUS should have followed suit (IMHO), given how even cheaper
no name Chinese brands have begun flooding the market with their own variants
of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Xiaomi MI Mix/Mix. What do you think of the ASUS
Zenfone 4? Is it worth its price or is the Zenfone 4 pro a better deal? Let’s talk more in the comments section below.
Stay Frosty!
