The Galaxy S Light Luxury was just announced in China packing very modest specs, the device is pretty much a "lite" variant of the Galaxy S8. The 5.8' screen from the S8 makes a return keeping the same dimensions as its bigger brother. The Light S features the same Super AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,220 px resolution (18.5:9). The phone has a single camera on the back - 16 MP sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. It can record 4K video at 30 fps, but OIS is absent (surprisingly). The selfie camera has an 8 MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. The Snapdragon 660 chipset inside the Galaxy S Light Luxury should offer similar CPU performance to the Galaxy S8's 835. It does have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Given the Galaxy S Light Luxury's size, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s a 3,000 mAh battery – the same capacity as the Galaxy S8. There’s support for fast wireless and wired charging, the latter of which goes over the USB-C port....
The M7 is not a stranger to performance either as it comes
equipped with the Helio P30 SoC which was unveiled by Mediatek in August. The
SoC features eight Cortex-A53 cores, four high performance cores clocked at
2.3GHz and four power efficient cores clocked at 1.65GHz. This package is well
paired with a 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded
further to 256GB via the dedicated microSD slot.
A pair of cameras grace the rear of this device, 16MP and
8MP respectively. There is also a fingerprint scanner for added security. The
front of the device is devoid of any physical keys as it is near ‘bezeless’ and
an 8MP selfie shooter is situated at the top of the device. A 4,000 mAh battery
keeps the lights on.

I know right now you may be comparing the M7 to the Galaxy
S8 and you wouldn’t be far off one bit. The Gionee M7 may not pack top of the
line specs, but considering the $422 price tag it is definitely worth it. The
lack of a Type-C USB 3.0 port was rather a let-down for me as well as no 4K
video recording as well. What do you think? Is it a worthy competitor in the
aggressive smartphone market? Let me know your thoughts below in the comments
section.
